PHOENIX BRENNAN

This poor dog has suffered enough injustices in her short 6 year life.  She was the runt of the litter of pups from a female dog called "Chino" owned by an itinerant called Heath.

Heath being an irresponsible lad was homeless and in love with a woman called Kate and so to placate Kate he gave Phoenix ( her name given at birth) to Cate. 

Cate was equally as irresponsible regarding dog welfare and locked Phoenix up 24/7 on a tiny verandah.  Phoenix managed a puppy pregnancy and gave birth to puppies while still under 12 months of age. Cate didn't want Phoenix when there were new puppies on the up coming agenda and so she then gave Phoenix back to Heath.  Heath, once again homeless, sort to have the dog shot.

Kate retrieved the dog when hearing of his intentions and by a stroke of luck she finally gave the dog to Brice ( my now partner) with the promise of some food as he could not afford the welfare of a dog with $15.00 left to his name after his rent and electricity were paid.  Brice could not afford to feed himself let alone a dog.    No food ever came.  They lied to convince him to take the dog to spare their own consciences!  I was very mortified hearing of this and it took a long time to digest the entirety of what happened.  It, like many other things are just the tip of the iceberg.

We are all in unison in agreement .  How could you kill the mother dog to keep another puppy two times in a row.   Make a value judgement -  this is animal cruelty!

I felt so sorry for Phoenix, I had seen her grow from puppy hood and I had looked after her as a favor to Heath because he could not.  I knew this dog and loved her terribly.

I am now Phoenix's Mother and Brice is still her Daddy.  We love her to death.  She has experienced a great deal of injustice.  Because of her breeding, Phoenix frets terribly in all storms and it would not have helped her one skerrick living through the storms of Bellingen being made to stay put with no cover outside on an exposed verandah with no shelter and no where to get away from it.
