FREEZING OUT PLASTIC

  I heard you don't have to wear a suit to argue the truth! "
Addicted" Bliss n Eso 2010

SEEING more than 70 people ‘freeze'  while holding signs calling for an end to plastic bags in NSW was a bewildering experience for more than a few Bellingen visitors.

I was visibly moved when I watched this video of our Bellingen Youth Freezing against plastic bags and the damage that it does to our precious environment!  this was so beautifully organized..

This was undertaken by the youth of the town where all of my children were schooled and lived for all of their lives!  This protest shows me that the kids are taking notice of what needs to be done in a hurry and what is just a lot of waffle!  This is very blatantly obvious with this spectacular and moving piece of footage.

Public protest is deeply rooted in our political culture. There have been countless times in the past - even in the recent past - when public demonstrations of support for a cause, or opposition to a policy or government, have changed the course of history. 'People power' can be a potent political force, whether at a national or a local level; whether to do with political causes or single issues.
Despite the positive promise of the Human Rights Act 1998  (HRA) the courts have been slow in practice to increase the scope of rights available to protestors. Parliament, on the other hand, has been quick to hand out new statutory powers – under the Terrorism Act 2000, the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001, the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001 and the Criminal Justice Act 2003 - which all increase the scope of police to prevent the free movement of protestors and other members of the public, and the free expression of political protest.

Small Things..

 Though your enemy is the size of an ant,
.....regard him as an elephant
When I was a child, I played for hours in the wood heap in the dirt dust from the wood, I played alongside ants.  I watched them .. made tracks for them, and they were for me a great source of amusement.

A few small facts..   on Ants

Like all insects, ants have six legs. Each leg has three joints. The legs of the ant are very strong so they can run very quickly. If a man could run as fast for his size as an ant can, he could run as fast as a racehorse.
Ants can lift 20 times ,their own body weight.
An ant brain has about 250 000 brain cells.

A human brain has 10,000 million so a colony of 40,000 ants has collectively the same size brain as a human.

Love doesn't boast but I sure want to..

Love doesn't boast but I sure as heck want to boast as I tend to get very sentimental over this picture and I feel that it is worth boasting of.

It is said at most weddings.. Corinthians chapter 13  or as some like to refer to it as the "Love Chapter".  Its all about LOVE, the full description of Love and all of its attributes and the Creator knew that all there is is love .. there is faith and hope but with out love its useless!

I am now rendered useless!  I have faith and hope but I am not loved, so there fore I am useless.. no just joking I just analyze things too closely that's all.

Just Quietly..

Go Placidly..
Remember what peace there maybe in silence...

( excerpt from Desiderata)

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

SLIPPERY TIME

"Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping into the future"
Fly Like an Eagle" / Steve Miller Band

There are over a hundred different varieties of Thyme or common thyme as its called (Thymus vulgaris) is a low growing herbaceous plant, sometimes becoming somewhat woody.  It is native to southern Europe, where it is cultivated as a culinary herb.

The essential oil of thyme is called Thymol. It was isolated in 1725 by the German apothecary Neuiuiann.

Thyme isn't an easy plant to grow from seed.  The seeds take over a month to sprout and when they do the first sign is so miniscule in size.  However this plant in the picture above was started a year ago from seed and is doing very very well.  Nothing pleases me more than to go out to the garden and pick some thyme just to experience the exquisite scent that it has.  I use it in cooking most day's.

TODAY IN PARADISE..

Paradise isn't always paradise, Do these flowers really grow in paradise?  They are not even able to take flight and they are called so beautifully Birds of Paradise...  I am a bird in paradise.

And Jesus answered him and said as he was dying on the cross, "Today I will see you in Paradise".

Grace is renewed everyday!

If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying.  It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep.  Dale Carnegie

If you wake up in the middle of the night, it is best to lie in bed, count sheep, or toss and turn until you eventually fall back asleep.

Waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep is a symptom of insomnia.

Relaxing imagery or thoughts may help to induce sleep more than counting sheep, which some research suggests may be more distracting than relaxing.     Whichever technique is used, most experts agree that if you do not fall back asleep within 15-20 minutes, you should get out of bed, go to another room and engage in a relaxing activity such as listening to music or reading. Return to bed when you feel sleepy.

Avoid watching the clock....

A LiL BIT GRAINY

One can easily judge the character of a person by the way they treat people who can do nothing for them.

None of us as parents have a book to follow as such and life just happens at times and sometimes just sometimes it doesn't work out like the fairy tale books in a "Happily ever after" situation.  I am personally so enriched for the fact that God himself endowed to me the most important jobs on this planet, that of being a Mother.  For this I am eternally grateful.

The Scent of It all..

Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.   Mark Twain
Beauty is an ecstasy; it is as simple as hunger. There is really nothing to be said about it. It is like the perfume of a rose: you can smell it and that is all.

Forgiveness is not afforded to me / I have to learn to understand unforgiveness.

OUT ON THE HORIZON

You must learn day by day, year by year to broaden your horizon. The more things you love, the more you are interested in, the more you enjoy, the more you are indignant about, the more you have left when anything happens.   Ethel Barrymore..

The horizon is the apparent line that separates earth from sky, the line that divides all visible directions into two categories: those that intersect the Earth's surface, and those that do not.

The horizon is something you look out on like its a new adventure waiting to be found!  On the horizon often means something is also looming!

Sentiment

The job of the poet is to render the world - to see it and report it without loss, without perversion. No poet ever talks about feelings. Only sentimental people do.
 Mark Van Doren

Gratification elation

"The ability to discipline yourself to delay gratification in the short term in order to enjoy greater rewards in the long term is the indispensable prerequisite for success."
Maxwell Maltz

 "All sorts of different things motivate people to do things - and from a storytelling standpoint, if you can take a character that's grappling with issues in their lives and sort of force them to deal with them, that's a great source of drama.

For me, that's why it works so well. It's because you're taking a character and forcing them to confront things in their life. And I think that's a great inspiration for a story."
 Ben Wagner

For me personally and in all of my day to day life, I  think that crisis brings change, and so in saying this crisis's are not all bad as sometimes change is well overdue.  This has been the case in my life of late and now the sun will shine again!.

It's your right! .. never be afraid to feel Pain.

People are afraid of themselves, of their own reality, their feelings most of all.  People talk about how great LOVE is, but that's bullshit.
Love hurts.  Some feelings are disturbing.

People are taught that pain is evil and dangerous.  How can they deal with LOVE if they're afraid to feel?

Pain is meant to wake you up.

People try to hide their pain.  But they are wrong.  Pain is something to carry like radio.  You feel your strength in the experience of pain.

Its all in how you carry it.

That's what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you.  Your own reality.  If you feel  ashamed of them, and hide them,  your letting society destroy your reality.

You should stand up for your right to feel your pain!   Jim Morrison

A WEED IS AN UNLOVED FLOWER

But a weed is simply a plant that wants to grow where people want something else.  In blaming nature, people mistake the culprit.  Weeds are people's idea, not nature's.  . . Author Unknown
A weed is but an unloved flower.   Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Today I dedicate all the beautiful things in this creation we call "our world", to the lady who died  circa 2003, died unnoticed and forgotten and found yesterday after 8 years.  This is a travesty of our society and  one that saddens me a great deal.  To her and to all the lonely people.....

PANIC

As a soul panic's
So shall it be....

Never bear more than one kind of trouble at a time.  Some people bear three  .....All they have had, all they have now, and all they expect to have.
Edward Everett Hale
I, at times have terrible trouble with panic attacks and I am caught unawares again and again to when it will happen. It is a sad world  I live in,  and nature and God are what inspire me.  What we see effects us.

So for now I need to see Gods perfection and beauty in life's mosaic imagery.

Quote by Mezza ( "As a soul panics so shall it be", is hers.   It was adopted from her knowledge of the biblical Proverbs)

" O' Beloved, where is the Beloved?

Sometimes I feel that the other dimension is just there next to us and this quote from Kumi reminds me of this.
I  have secret knowledge I must entrust to all who will listen and not be blinded.  The foolish and the edge dwellers,  we are here to confound the wise! The supreme creators are as close as the breath you draw."
Mary-Ellen Peters.  2008

In truth, everything and everyone is a shadow of the Beloved.
And our seeking is His seeking,
And our words are His words
We search for Him here and there, while looking right at Him.
Sitting by His side, we ask:
 " O' Beloved, where is the Beloved? ''

BILBERGIA LISTENS

Hello from my Bromiliad Bilbergia sp. (aka Billy) and me.....

Can Plants hear? .. ..  Of course I think the answer is yes.  They are effected by sounds like we are!

The Secret Life of Plants by Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird, published in 1973, has a similar message. The book’s cover blurb — “a fascinating account of the physical, emotional and spiritual relations between plants and man” — speaks for itself.

There is little research on this subject and what work that has been done remains controversial. That is not surprising. The concept that plants can hear, and even observe, doesn’t fit very well into the conventional mechanistic image of the world.
