These men were sledging at the back of the meeting.  They will have the full power of the Abyss loosed upon them and their families.  They probably will not join the dots but their actions were detrimental to themselves.

When we break them, we discover to our sorrow that we have not been very good.  As long as man is not full of self interest because if he is this way  the full power of the abyss is let loose over us.  Be still and do in peace all good deeds in the name of one sovereign good that we are ordained into.  We are never punished for what is right.
