Plutarch, was a Greek philosopher, historian, biographer, and essayist, known primarily for his Parallel Lives and Moralia. He is considered today to be a Middle Platonist. Wikipedia.

Born in 45 AD at Chaeronea, Greece and  died in 120 AD at Delphi, Greece.  Plutarch received his education mainly at the Platonic Academy (66AD - 67AD).  Plutarch had three children, Timoxena Jr, Plutarch II and Autobulus. 

Plutarch was the author of many other books including On Sparta, The Fall of the Roman Republic, Roman Lives.
