The old Lakota was wise. He knew that man's heart away from nature becomes hard; he knew that lack of respect for growing living things soon led to the lack of respect for humans too.

.....So he kept his youth close to it's softening influence."

The idea of nature being 'wild' and an evil adversary to man is a puritan concept, brought to the Americas with the arrival of the well known 'pilgrim'.   It is likewise the puritan ideology which branded the Native American as a savage and pagan.

The very same thing occurred in Australia with the indigenous who were treated so badly and the woman raped and killed and children stolen from mothers and all of this was because they were savages.  So called Christians performing the most inhumane acts on these people in the name of God.

This fact alone leaves Australia with a very dim past indeed.  One to be ashamed of not celebrated on the 26th January each year.

I cringe as Australia Day and Columbus Day are one and the same celebrating GENOCIDE!
